Alphabet Aerobics has transformed our Main Gallery into a working ceramics factory and…
Following his Masters at the Royal College of Art, London, Alvarez dedicated three years to one body of work, Thread Wrapping Machine.
In 2015 he embarked on a new project for The National Centre for Craft & Design to create a machine that would remove artistic intervention in the making process and be capable of producing ceramic sculptures.
The exhibition questions the role of maker, artist and curator and provides visitors with a unique opportunity to witness ground-breaking innovations in craft and design. Pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a sculptor, Alvarez’s machine will make a sculpture a day in the gallery.
Daily extrusion times are 11am, 1.30pm and 3pm.
